You Can Buy Anything on the Deep Web, Even Submarines

The laws of economy state that if there’s a need for a product or service, there will be someone willing to offer it. If, however, one is in the market for something slightly bizarre or corrupt they need look no further than the Darknet marketplaces.
Not surprisingly, the various goods and services offered are almost always illegal. Yet, sometimes, this underground, virtual world manages to surprise even the most familiar and experienced.

Researchers from cyber threat intelligence company, Intsights, have discovered a truly unique market on the Darknet. In addition to the usual illicit items such as handguns, ammo, etc., available for sale, the Intsights team came across a site specialising in distributing decommissioned military gear of the largest scale.

As can be seen in the images below, the site sells submarines, bomber aircrafts and other decommissioned military apparatus for sale, including air-to-surface missiles and atomic bombs!

As anyone involved in the shipping of dubious goods of substantial size (or anyone who’s seen Nicholas Cage in “Lord of War”) knows, selling is only half the challenge. Accordingly, the sites’ FAQ page states that shipment will be conducted with discrete packages and that “larger products will be split into several smaller parcels to avoid detection”. Judging from our nightmarish experiences in putting together Ikea furniture, assembling a submarine or a fight plane should be reserved for a true professional.

This underground forum is also unique in that it's only available to registered members, and registration has been closed. In the underground world, stores typically allow anybody to register, to ensure them the largest possible customer base. Insights is unsure if this particular store will be opened again in the future, as it is highly plausible that it will remain closed due to the sensitivity of the merchandise.
